How much is a 388 chevy sb worth? ?
late model 5.7(350) 1 piece rear main seal block. It is .060 over with flat tops. Has Eagle rotating assembly. 882 heads, ported with 2.02/1.60 valves, 1.55 roller rockers, guide plates. Studded block(deck). Cam is a hydraulic roller .540 lift. Weiand X-celerator aluminum intake. Holley 600 cfm with 1" phenolic spacer. All ARP fasteners Billet HEI distributor with billet clamp. Matching black/orange breather, valve covers and timing cover. Chrome oil pan Mallory wires, Accel plugs. Also included are water pump, fuel pump, 3 groove crank pulley, water pump pulley, fan blade and spacer, alternator and bracket, chrome water neck, flexplate. 400 plus horsepower. Engine is ready to drop in, adjust vavles and go.Less than 500 miles on engine. I'm thinking about trading a 1986 fiero gt for the motor. Would this be a good motor?
Do the trade. While the Chevy can handle significant overboring, 0.060 is too much. The only exception might be if it were a newer "racing" crate block from Chevrolet, or it happens to actually be an older block with updated parts. That aside, you made some beautiful choices on parts, IMO; worth about 1500 to 2000 bucks, in resale condition. These friggin things are so interchangeable, your potential buyers are many; so you shouldn't have to 'settle' too much on price.
The fiero V-6 is okay, just okay though. They are are similar to the GN/GNX motors. In other words these motors can be just as fun if not more, when turboed.
