Copper Head
I have a 2006 d dime that has a copper color around the head on the front?
Sounds like environmental damage maybe cased by water. There is nothing in the minting process to cause this so the damage was caused outside the mint. It is not an error coin. Our dimes today are clad and have a copper/nickel out side layers, that combination is effected by water as well as chemicals. Since a large variety of things can cause what you have you may never find out just what really did happen after the coin left the mint.
