I Should Know This But One More Question About Harmonic Balancer. SBC 350?
I have used the threaded puller on it. All the parts are off, water pump, air pump, power steering, crank pulley, and all that. All I need to do is take off the balancer to remove the cover to get to the timing chain to replace that and the sprockets on it.
Anyway, I know that with that puller tool, you have the one long bolt that goes into the crank (center bolt), and the three other bolts go on the balancer and screw in. I got that. And then I heard you just turn and the balancer will come off.
Well, I am turning and the balancer is spinning (turning) as well as the timing chain. You can see that a lil' bit. But it just keeps on spinning with the chain that is also controlling the cam and crank and all that. So, how do I get this thing off? I keep on turning it and the balancer as well as the chain move. I believe I need to chain to not turn while the balancer loosens up so I can remove it.
Any info you can provide on how to get this thing off? Thanks

Just remove the dust cover to expose the fly wheel assuming its an automatic use a pry bar or heavy screw driver wedge between the block and fly wheel be careful not to hurt oil pan this will stop the crank from turning and your balancer will come off
