Acer Aspire 9420-6775 or Alienware Aurora m9700? 10 points?
I'm looking to do a little gaming, but I don't know if either of them are really great for the games that are out nowadays. I'm also a student, and so will need a smooth and solid computer to lug around and use.

Which is the better computer overall, and why?
Sorry but both are rather sluggish computers, it really depends on what games you are wanting to play, Crysis will be a nightmare.
The Acer has a better CPU with 2mb of cache while the Alienware has a weaker CPU and also it's single cored.
The Alienware does have the stronger graphics card of the two and for gaming this is a very important aspect.
I don't know the speed of the Acer's harddrive but i'll assume it's 5400rpm, and the Alienware is the same so they're on par but the Alienware has a smaller harddrive. I'd recommend you upgrading the hard drive to a 7200rpm one later.
Overall I think you should go with the Alienware as it's better build than Acer and also the graphics card is much better than the Acer's and for games, that's what matters. The Alienware's Cpu is a real bottle neck. I think you should upgrade to Vista also, people are probably going to bash me for this but, the fact is, vista is better for games than XP as is allocates more ram to the graphics card.
