Is it illegal to remove your catalytic converters and replace them with a downpipe and a race pipe?
I have a Mazdaspeed 3 and i want to remove both of the Cats and replace them with a downpipe and a racing pipe and mate them to a turbo cat back system. Is it illegal to take the cats off? How about just one? And does anyone know of a good HIGH FLOW cat for a mazdaspeed?
It,s illegal and I wouldn't do it anyway. Most Japanese cats are free flow anyway. If you remove them, you'd change the exhaust temp, which feeds back to the O2 sensor, which gives different readings to fuel management, and you'll go nuts trying to get the mixture correct again.
