How do I plant grass and flowers If the grounds hard? And has a lot of stickers around?
My reason asking my neighbors don't have grass it's just mainly dirt there lucky to have a tree. Well some of them do but not all of them. I woud like to plant a little garden and some grass what would work best for me. I'm working with hard ground lots of rocks, weeds stickers mainly tumble weeds I just don't know? If this is enough detail to my question!
You should start by preparing your ground well. This year you may have to just work on rock and weed removal. If you have alot of rocks as you remove them from the areas you want to turn into lawn or flower beds use them to define the borders of these areas. They can be quite attractive this way. Also almost all "dirt" can be inproved by adding compost.
You did not say where you are but if you are in the USA most counties have an Extension service associated with a state University that will do a soil test for you for a small fee so you will know what you have and what you need to add to make it better. They also usually have Master Gardener volunteers who are local experts trained to assist the home gardener solve these problems. I would suggest you contact your county extension service and ask if these services are available. They would be able to advise you on types of lawn grass that will do well in your area too.
While you are working on improving your existing soil, large containers will often be a great way to grow flowers and even some vegetables.
